Donate your gently used items
We would love to take your donated goods under the following conditions:
Items need to be clean and in good working condition.
Please remember that our clients need basic items that will be going into small apartments. They do not need specialty items that you have rarely used. Please bring those specialty items to Savers.
Unusable Items
We cannot accept items that are broken, torn, stained, covered with pet hair, non-functioning, water-stained, smell like smoke or mold, or have missing parts. We do not accept antique furniture or holiday items.

Bedroom Furniture
Items we will accept in good condition:
- Mattresses – (Twin, Full & Queen) in like-new condition only. No stains or which have been slept on regularly. 8″ thick minimum. These will be carefully inspected before we accept them. No Ikea, Sleep Number, or water-bed mattresses.
- Box springs – Even if your mattress doesn’t meet the above standards, we will still take your box spring if it is in good condition.
- Metal bed platforms.
- Desks: Only accepted September – May. Small student-sized desks only (no large, secretary desks, or roll-top desks)
- Headboards & Footboards: Twin, Full, and Queen only – No king, antique, platform, or with built-in storage or shelves. If side rails are needed, they must be included. Alternately, if a bedframe is needed, it must be included and include the hardware needed to attach the bedframe.
- Toddler beds (No cribs)
- Bunk beds (Must have all hardware. Assembly instructions are helpful.)
- Dressers/bureaus
- Nightstands
- Upholstered or Rocking chairs
- Bookcases: Small bookcases (under 5 ft tall)
- Lamps with shades (floor or table)
- Framed artwork (Max 3′ any dimension)
- Decorative mirrors (Small & not heavy – easy to hang)
- Decorative pillows
- Bound rugs – Must be clean with minimal spotting. Will be unrolled & inspected.
Our no-thank-you list includes, but is not limited to:
- Antique Furniture
- Oversized items (over 6.5′ tall or wide)
- Headboards: No king, antique, or platform
- Headboards with built-in storage/shelves
- Metal Bed Frames what are not part of a bed
- Mattresses with any stains or that have been regularly used. No Ikea, Sleep Number, or water-bed mattresses.
- Box springs (foundations) that have metal springs
- Platform beds, Day beds, Trundle beds, or Futons
- Ikea furniture that requires assembly
- This-End-Up style of furniture
- Armoires that are heavy or have been modified to hold a TV
- Baby furniture
- Cribs
- Large desks or Office Furniture
- Office desk chairs (i.e. on wheels)
- Wall-mounted furniture, shelves, or lamps
- Posters, picture frames, or unframed art
- Wicker or rattan furniture
Living Room Furniture
Items we will accept in good condition:
- Couches and Loveseats (no large sectionals)
- Small sectional sofas
- Sleeper sofas – Mattresses will be inspected. Drop-off only.
- Upholstered Chairs
- Recliners, Rocking chairs
- Ottomans: Comes with a chair or that is a stand-alone piece of furniture
- Lamps with shades – floor or table
- End tables
- Coffee tables – Small sizes only
- Low TV Stands
- Sofa tables
- Desks: Small, student-sized desks (no secretary desks or roll-top)
- Bookcases: Small bookcases – under 5 ft tall
- Decorative pillows
- Bound rugs. Clean and with minimal spotting. We will unroll & inspect
- Framed artwork (max 3′ any dimension)
- Decorative mirrors (Small & not heavy – easy to hang)
- Flat-screen TVs (less than 30″)

Items we will accept in good condition:
- Kitchen tables (Legs/base must be removable. 6ft max without leaves installed. No glass tops. Please remove table legs.)
- Kitchen chair sets (No individual chairs)
- Kitchen carts
- Baker’s rack
- Bar stools (2 minimum)
Our no-thank-you list includes, but is not limited to:
- Antique furniture
- Oversized items
- Tables that the legs or base that can’t be removed for storage

- Dishwasher and microwave-safe dishes, glasses & flatware (sets of 4+)
- Kid-friendly plastic dishes & cups
- Pots & Pans
- Oven safe cookware
- Mixing bowls, Measuring cups & spoons
- Muffin tins, 9×9 & 9×13 Baking pans, Cookie sheets
- Cooking utensils, Kitchen knives, Cutting boards
- Colanders
- Can openers
- Small trash cans
- Tea kettles – Stove top & electric

- China & Crystal stemware
- Bar glasses, Wine glasses, or Wine racks

- Coffee mugs with logos, Teacups & saucers, or Decorative teapots
Kitchen Appliances & Electrical Items
Items we will accept in good condition:
- Small microwaves (Within 5 years old)
- Coffee pots (No Keurigs)
- Crock pots with lids
- Toasters & Toaster ovens
- Blenders
- Mixers
- George Foreman-type grills
- Irons & Ironing Boards
- Vacuums
- Fans (Only summer months – must be clean)
- Electric heaters (Only during cold months)
- Lamps (Floor and Table)
- Flat screen TVs (need power cord, remote & needs to work)

- Any other kitchen appliance not listed above
- Built-In Appliances
- Keurig Coffee Makers
- Air conditioners

Linens (Bedroom, Kitchen, & Bathroom)
*** Please place linens in bags or boxes that can close/stack. If possible, please indicate sizes for things like sheets, blankets, etc. ***

Donation Drop-Off
You can drop off items at our store on the following days. You do not need an appointment to drop off items.
Drop Off Schedule
Tuesdays & Thursdays: 9:00 am -12:00 pm
**No furniture drop-offs**
We accept bags and boxes of kitchen items, linens, lamps, and artwork.
Saturdays: 8:30 am – 10:30 am
We accept donations of furniture and bags and boxes of kitchen items, linens, lamps, and artwork.
Drop-off Information
- All furniture donation drop-offs will take place outdoors in our parking lot.
- We inspect items to make sure that they meet our quality standards and are things that we take (see below).
- Fresh Start’s volunteers will offload your vehicle.
- Furniture drop-offs end at 10:30 because we switch to loading client vehicles at that time. As a result, we may not be able to offload your vehicle after 10:30.
Donation Pick-Up
If you cannot drop your items off, please review our quality standards and our take/do-not-take list. You can then request a pick-up using our request form. Note that a pick-up requires a minimum of 2 of the following items (dresser, love seat, sofa, upholstered chairs, kitchen table with chairs). We will also require a fiscal donation to help cover our costs.
